Pre/Post Survey to Test Attitudes Toward the Music Class and Music Class Activity Preferences. – This will be given to both teachers and students. Miscue Analysis Chart. – Weekly Chart for both whole class and focus group. Field Notes.

Video Camera to Aid in Accuracy. On Task and Off Task Behavior Chart Tripod Activity. – Miscues can be recorded on the miscue analysis chart and graphed at the conclusion of the study.
Limitations Time. Researcher Bias. Age: Most are not yet able to read and write. Natural Disaster and sickness.
Procedure: Pre-Week One Organization of Materials. Distribution of Informational Packets to Parents. Distribution of the Pre-Survey to the Classroom Teachers. Selection of the Focus Group. Explanation of the Study to Administration.
Week One:
Administer the Pre-Survey to Children. Introduction of the First Song Picture Book. All Songs have the Same Five Step Procedure: – 1. Read and then re-read the book. – 2. A “discovery” of its pictures and words. – 3. Students will “echo” the sentences back to the teacher, then “echo” the sung phrases. – 4. The students will then sing the song picture book with the teacher. – 5. The song picture book will be sung independently without the teacher.
Week Six: Culminate the study with the piano Accompaniment. Administer the Final Post Surveys. Gather All Materials.
